Our story
Asean Airlines was founded on June 6th, 2017.

Our first name wasn't Asean Airlines, but Manzi Airways. Manzi is a mandarin term to designate the people from Southern China. We first operated flights to Beijing Capital International Airport and Shanghai Pu Dong International Airports, three times a day each, with a fleet of two Airbus A320s.
Manzi Airways existed for a year and a half, and was then changed from A to Z to create Asean Airlines.

Asean Airlines stopped flying to Beijing and Shanghai, and started to fly all around Asia, with the aim to link all Asian cities together, but also to the world.

After 6 months of existing, Asean Airlines opened its first route to Europe, to London Heathrow.
Asean Airlines kept developing to get closer and closer from its original aim, linking more than Asia to the world, opening routes from Hong Kong to Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania and Middle East.

On April 18th of 2019, Asean Airlines introduced Moon Air, its Korean low-cost subsidiary, based in Seoul Incheon International Airport, focusing on low fare flights from South Korea to Europe. On April 19th, 2019, the first flight to Paris took off from Seoul with an Airbus a330-900neo.

The next milestone for Asean Airlines was the opening of a new hub in Singapore Changi International Airport on May 29th, 2019, with the first flight taking off to London on May 31st.

In January 2020, Asean Airlines took Boreal Canadian, a Canadian all business carrier based in Vancouver back to the skies, and founded the Asean Airlines group.

Covid-19 unfortunately took Moon Air and Boreal Canadian away from the skies.

On November 24th of 2020, Asean Airlines landed in Los Angeles after more than a year and a half. This was the starting point of a massive expansion to the U.S. (Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago, Houston, San Francisco & Seattle) and Canada (Toronto & Vancouver) from Hong Kong.

On July 12th of 2020, Asean Airlines opened its third hub in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, a news accompanied by the launch of Asean Airlines' longest route ever, from Bangkok to New York JFK International Airport, flying a total of 13,950km or 8,670mi within a journey of 15 hours and 40 minutes onboard a Boeing 777-300ER.

January 13th of 2021 marked the arrival of Asean Airlines' 100th aircraft.

In May of 2021, Asean Airlines started operating flights to Canada and the USA from Singapore thanks to the arrival of the Airbus A350-900ULR in the fleet, the first destinations including New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco & Toronto.
The opening of the Singapore-New York route broke the record of Asean Airlines' longest, going from operating world's 6th longest flight to world's 1st !

Asean Airlines introduced a new route for the summer of 2021 : Singapore to São Paulo !
The total distance reaching 16,000km, beating several records at a time : dethroning the Singapore-New York flight as the longest commercial flight by 650km, and launching the first direct flight ever between Asia and South America.
Asean Airlines is now proud to say that we fly to all six inhabited continents !

In July 2021, Asean Airlines opened its fourth hub : Taipei.
Throughout the following month, lines to Asia, Europe, North America & Oceania were opened to reach a number of 200 lines served by Asean Airlines.
